California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) in Music and Visual Arts
The California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET™) is a new set
of tests developed by National Evaluation Systems under contract with
the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing as the examination
option to the subject matter competency requirement. The testing
program will take the place of the current Single Subject Assessments
for Teaching® (SSAT) and Praxis™ II subject matter examinations. The
new CSET™ tests in Art and Music were in place in fall 2004. A panel of
California arts educators from K-12 schools and post-secondary
institutions have been appointed by the California Commission on
Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) to the Music and Visual Arts CSET Subject
Matter Advisory Panels. The Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
has approved a new set of Subject Matter Requirements for Art and
Music. Visit the CTC Web site at http://www.ctc.ca.gov for further
information..
