California Professional Arts Educator Associations Many experienced and emerging California arts educators rely on the
vast resources of the state professional educator associations in
dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. These associations are,
respectively, the California Dance Educator Association (CDEA), The
California Association for Music Education (CMEA), the California
Educational Theatre Association (CETA), and the California Art
Education Association (CAEA). The purposes of these associations are to
promote access to a sequential arts education for all Pre-kindergarten
through grade twelve students taught by fully qualified arts educators;
to support and improve existing arts programs; to promote quality
pre-service and in-service arts teacher preparation programs; and, to
create a greater awareness of the value of arts education through
partnerships with other associations and advocacy among state and local
