County Arts Leads
California's 58 County Offices of Education each
designate a “County Art Lead.” Each
quarter the County Arts Leads meet; 3 meetings are held in Sacramento (one coordinated with the Arts
Education Conference in May) and 1 meeting
in another city. The purpose of each meeting is to have county offices fully
informed of state and federal aspects affecting their actions in regards to
arts education; to provide support for the implementation of comprehensive and
sequential visual and performing arts programs in every school for all
students; provide statewide links to current information on exemplary arts
education programs, school-to-career opportunities and programs that have made
arts education a core subject in the curriculum or have infused the arts into
the curriculum; support the development of state/regional/county support.
Following each meeting an
“Arts Leader News” is sent out for county offices to use for informational
purposes within their county. For
further information on County Arts Leads please contact ncarr@cde.ca.gov.
